Meet Heather Ochalski
Inuk. Strategic Advisor. Executive Leader. Artist.
I'm a proud Inuk from Baker Lake, Nunavut, a Nunavut Beneficiary, and bilingual in English and Inuktitut. While I was raised within my Inuit heritage and community, my biological father is German, and I have recently begun learning more about and exploring that part of my heritage. My lived experience, together with more than 15 years of executive leadership, shapes how I partner with organizations, communities, and families to develop practical, culturally grounded solutions that create lasting impact.
As the founder of OSKI Strategic Solutions, I work with governments, Indigenous organizations, non-profits, businesses, and community partners to strengthen governance, develop strategic plans, secure funding, and lead meaningful organizational change. Throughout my career, I've led national initiatives in education, health, reconciliation, and community development, building trusted relationships across Indigenous, government, private, academic, and non-profit sectors.
As the daughter of renowned Inuit artist Martha Tickie, I have a deep appreciation for creativity, storytelling, learning, and the importance of sharing knowledge across generations. This influence continues to shape both my professional work and the educational resources, practical tools, and creative works I develop through OSKI Strategic Solutions.
My work is grounded in both Inuit and Western ways of knowing, allowing me to bridge perspectives, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and help people and organizations navigate complex challenges with clarity and purpose. As a researcher, published author, and experienced executive, I believe the strongest solutions are created through collaboration, respect, and a genuine commitment to community and family well-being.
Whether I'm supporting strategic planning, developing practical learning resources, creating tools that help families make informed decisions, or guiding transformative initiatives, my goal is to share knowledge in ways that build capacity, strengthen relationships, and create positive, sustainable change.
